Gentlemen,
This seems to be a popular thread on many of the wet-shaving forums, and I thought it would be nice to do this here as well.  Here's how it works: just reply to this thread posting the hardware(razor, blade, and brush) and software (Soap/cream, aftershave) that you used for that day's shave.  This would be a good way for those new to the idea of "Shaving like your Grandpa" to see what products are out there and a good encouragement for the rest of us!

I'll begin!

Today's shave 5/27/2010

Merkur Slant DE
Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (Green label)
Van Der Hagen Boar brush
Proraso shave cream
Witch Hazel
Proraso aftershave balm

There you are fellows!  Let's see those shaves!

Cheers!
Aaron

Mark,

What is the Floid's AS like?  Does the scent compare to anything else?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

No, there's nothing around that I can compare the Floid to. It's a very unique scent.. A little sweet with a nice touch of menthol. There's a blue version that's nice as well but it smells too close to Aqua Velva to me to make it as special as the original.

From the Grammarphobia blog.Q: In a recent radio appearance, you said the idea that “he” can refer to any human being – man or woman – was introduced in the 18th century by a female grammarian. I think you’re wrong. The concept of male as universal has been around much longer.A: If by “male as universal,” you mean using male pronouns (“he,” “him,” and “his”) for women as well as men, the idea did indeed begin in the 18th century. Before then – for two centuries, in fact – it was considered…See More

The death of neck ties?

I heard that according to researches that the neck tie is expected to become obsolete in the next few decades. Because more and more men are dressing more casually these days thanks to Facebook and google where the CEO shows up in jeans and a hoodie. So is the neck tie really becoming obsolete or are men just not caring about his personal appearance? Please feel free to give your taken on this.See More
