I can't say that I have ever met a port that I didn't like. After my father introduced me to some very nice well aged Grahams port my wife bought me some significantly cheaper Benjamin Tawny Port which is a good tawny that is inexpensive. I have enjoyed everything in between and still pick up a bottle of the Benjamin when I see it at the store.

I discovered port about 2 years ago and though I love it I have to admit my utter lack of sophistication. All I know is I like a nice glass of tawny. Usually a Quinta if memory serves. Hopefully I'll learn something here.

Had a very nice 20 year old Fonseca Tawny last night with dessert. It was quite excellent. A wonderful bouquet with plenty of caramels, and subtle tones of cherry and almond.

With the necrocomment of the year, as to Bens question about nice cheeses to go with ports, I like the normal "accesoire" cheese would be the Stilton, but other of the same variety works well also, iow blueskimmeled* cheeses like Gorgonzolas, Danablues etcetera. They are hefty enough in the taste that they complements the sweetness of the port extremly well...

Blueskimmeled are a direct translation of the Norwegian word for the sort of cheeses I`m thinking of - have unfortnunatly no idea about the english word for i

I have a 1975 Quady 20 year Ruby that I have not opened yet. Waiting for the right moment, I suppose.

My go to has been a surprisingly inexpensive 10 year tawny by Niepoort

I LOVE PORT! I call it God's blood I love it so.

I'm not sure I've ever really had vintage though, the ones I've had were 10 year olds.

What is a good cheese to go with a nice glass? Yesterday I had some cheese and port, I think Havarti seemed to make the port taste a little too bitter but Brie was ok.

Man Mints

I was recently browsing through an AoM article about what to carry with you on a date. Since one of the items were mints I was wondering what is a good mint brand. Are there any that have been around for forever and a day?See More
