Churchwarden pipe?

Started by Stephen Jashub Comstock. Last reply by Buck Johnson Mar 3. 4 Replies

Lately I've been interested in picking up a churchwarden pipe. I love a cool smoke, and a churchwarden might be just the thing. Any thoughts or opinions from someone more experienced than I? What…Continue

Hey guys,

I have just started smoking a pipe as a wind down. I only smoke one or two a week and was curious how often you guys smoke a pipe? I know all tobacco has risks but I was curious if any of you who smoke about as often as I do have any adverse health?

I got a Missouri Meerschaum Gen (Emperor) MacAurthur for christmas plus 4 others. It is the first corn cob I have had and it smokes so great may be the best ever!

Oliver,

For sure, happy to help! There are a ton of youtube videos on the subject and I doubt that there is one way that is more correct than the other as most of them are pretty similar.

Welcome to the club!

The Sage_KS,

Thanks for the input; will check into those estate pipes...and good cleaning methods just to be on the safe side.

What experience do my fellow pipe smokers have with Brebbia out of Italy. They look beautiful and the meerschaum lined bowls have intrigued me greatly. Plus it'll be my first major pipe purchase of my new found hobby. Otherwise I like to puff on the requisite Missouri meerschaum we all seem to start on.

Welcome to the group Oliver! If you're looking for a Peterson specifically I have a couple suggestions for you. I would go back to Pipes & Cigars website and look at their selection there or you could also go online and check out etsy.com and search 'Estate pipes.' These will be used pipes and can generally be found at a good cost. That being said I wold suggest you look at the seller and whether or not they have experience in the cleaning of estate pipes or if is just some guy selling his granddad's pipe he just found in a shoebox in the closet. I have ordered an estate pipe from there before and the seller listed in his bio that he does properly clean each pipe he sells and upon inspection of the pipe when it arrived he was telling the truth.  Hope this helps some!

New to pipe smoking and appreciate all of the great feedback in this forum.  I'm limited to online ordering at present but ordered the Pipes & Cigars Corn Cob Sampler.  I'm very interested in finding a Peterson second but don't know where to look.  Would appreciate any pointers in the right direction. Cheers.

Greetings and salutations to all here.  I've smoked a pipe since I was eighteen.  My father was a salesman for the Amphora tobacco company out of Europe, and for Nording pipes.  Amphora is no longer imported into the US, so I've taken up smoking various other aromatic Cavendish tobaccos.  My current favorite is Columbine, sold by Stag here in Colorado Springs, CO.  The pipe you see in my teeth in the picture is a Nording my father gave to me some forty years ago.  Needless to say, it is very well broken in.  Nording pipes remain my favorites.
