T-train I agree.  The emphasis Norse culture placed on courage and bravery is one of my favourite things about it.  An interesting site on norse culture is   www.hurstwic.org

Something interesting about Norse mythology and religion is the importnce it placed on courage, even when faced with certain death.  This is because they had no belief in an eternal afterlife-even Valhalla is destroyed in Ragnorak.  Thus, the way to "live on" immortally was to display great courage, and that act of courage would live on in peoples' memory.  Look at Beowulf.  Even though an old man, and not having a chance of defeating the dragon, he still goes to fight it.  And his tale lives on today.  Edith Hamilton, in her book Mythology, has a small section at the end dealing with Norse mythology.
