Yes. A good teacher will definitely get you moving. But judging by your comment, I'm wondering what your goals are? What do you want to do with the guitar? A teacher will help you do that..., once you figure it out.
But practice--deliberate daily practice--is part of the equation.

Comment by Tim H. on January 11, 2011 at 1:18am Is there any possibility of some of the guitar players helping me out, by teaching me a little bit more? I've been taught for about a year a little bit by a friend, but lost a lot of knowledge, because I haven't been practicing in MONTHS!
And I don't know where and how to start again. If I ever pick up my guitar I just try to "lick around" a bit.
