40 degrees and some light rain in and around the Lansing area ... looking forward to the snow to be gone and warmer temps to be here.

My wife works from home, but has to go into the Pontiac office once a month or so ... I will drop hints for some "sliders" the next time she goes in.

They just keep getting farther and farther away. I buy two crave cases in Pontiac every time I end up driving through.  I refuse to eat the frozen ones, they are not even close.

Two thumbs up on your cousin's vacation Michael.

@ Rich ... I was super bummed when the White Castle in Lansing closed it's doors this last fall, now I can only get my fix outta the freezer section at Meijer just not the same.

Up northers, like me, always appreciate when visitors bring cold beers up.

And some White Castles.

Say Hey Kevin, I plan on "retiring" in Northern Michigan here in a few years.  I'd love to trek to the U.P. for those years, but my wife is an Arizona girl and she dislikes the Michigan winters.  Here in the Southern L.P. the winters are mild and I think she would not be able to survive Yopper winters.  I lived in Northern Minnesota not far from the Canadian border and did not mind the harsh winters at all.  I too agree with you that if I lived in that area, I wouldn't need to travel elsewhere.

Hello Michael and welcome, Oklahoma eh ... I lived in Altus for 2 1/2 in the mid-80's.  Did not mind it too much, but it was a far cry to the four seasons we have here in Michigan.  I too have family in and area the Saginaw area.  And yes "Up North" is a term we use anytime heading out for vacation and being in the Southern Mid-Michigan area, I go "Up North" a lot.

Where do people who live on the northern border go?  Canada?  Most of the the permanent residents up by my Dad's place go south for a few days.   They don't usually stay away too long though.   I mean think about it, most of them are either semi or fully retired and living living on a lake/river or in the woods.   Heck living up there would be my dream come true and I wouldn't go anywhere.

Six inches eh ... looking forward to getting some of the white stuff down here as well. Was up @ CMU on Wednesday picking up my son for the T-Day break and was hoping to see some up there ... but none to be had. I too had to work on Friday and glad "not" to be out and about with the crazies looking for that "super deal" on Black Friday.

Got 6 inches at my place on Friday. Had to work on 'driver re-education day'. Was I glad it wasn't a normal work day.
