The Perks of Being Over 50

Snagged from this website:

1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
2. In a hostage situation, you are likely to be released first.
3. No one expects you to run -- anywhere.
4. People call at 9 p.m. and ask, "Did I wake you?"
5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
7. Things you buy now won't wear out.
8. You can eat dinner at 4 p.m.
9. You can live without sex (though not without glasses).
10. You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.
11. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
12. You have a party and the neighbors don't even realize it.
13. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
14. You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room.
15. You sing along with elevator music.
16. Your eyes won't get much worse.
17. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.
18. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the National Weather Service.
19. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them, either.
20. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.

LOL! No. 9 has applied to me for quite a number of years now! I've lately lapsed over into no. 4 and no. 8 :-)

David R you are okay I thought the post was funny

I just realized that not every group keeps its posts private to group members only.  So when I post a response to an earlier post, and it's read out of context, it can seem pretty weird.  Sorry, guys.  I'll be more careful.  ;)

I need sex and glasses (although I take off the second before starting the first).  That makes sense since I'm near-sighted.  If I were far-sighted, I'm not big enough down there to be able to do the first without glasses to see things.  I guess I would do the first with things looking fuzzy.  Hmm....

The twenty aspects for the 'Over Fifty' up there in our group's description would not be as funny, if they were not also so TRUE! I relate to No. 9 lately; how 'bout y'all?

I can't believe I actually have found a group of guys in my own age bracket. I just turned  63 and it is such a relief to find a site that is geared toward those of us who have life experience and are proud to have lived the years we have. Dean Weber

On my groups page it says that there was activity in this group 17 hours ago, but I don't see anything new.  Maybe this 50+ group lost it ("Where did I put that activity?").  (chuckle)

I had my first colonoscopy the fall before I turned 50, and an endoscopy at the same time. I joked that they would meet in the middle and drive a golden spike. They used propofol, and I woke up as if from a nap, no grogginess at all.

Comment by Earl Foote on February 1, 2015 at 5:53pm

You guys must not have gotten good enough drugs!  I mean the legal kind, of course ... Both times, so far, I have fallen peacefully asleep and awakened to hear the doctor announce, "It's over."  I also felt a bit groggy and light-headed for several hours, so not driving was probably a good idea.
