The Perks of Being Over 50

Snagged from this website:

1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
2. In a hostage situation, you are likely to be released first.
3. No one expects you to run -- anywhere.
4. People call at 9 p.m. and ask, "Did I wake you?"
5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
7. Things you buy now won't wear out.
8. You can eat dinner at 4 p.m.
9. You can live without sex (though not without glasses).
10. You enjoy hearing about other people's operations.
11. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
12. You have a party and the neighbors don't even realize it.
13. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
14. You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room.
15. You sing along with elevator music.
16. Your eyes won't get much worse.
17. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.
18. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the National Weather Service.
19. Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them, either.
20. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to a manageable size.

I'm at double nickels and somewhere over the past couple years I realized that I became my old man. I came along late in his life which was a blessing in disguise because I listened and learned his wisdom. He would tell me when I was stressed over "stuff": "don't sweat the small stuff, they don't mean much in the long run. you need only worry about health, disposition, and faith". I now know what he meant.

Daniel, I can relate. Things aren't rosey in my life either, but I'm pushing 60 now... and stuff just doesn't bother me like it used to. Ahhhhhh.

I am at a place in my life that everything is OK. It might not be "peachy King" there are problems. But i really don't really let it bother me like it used to when I was younger.

Robert. That comment about the 70's... So true! :-)

Personally, my life has never been better. I am into a new career (one I REALLY like), second marriage is incomparable; don't have to give flying rat's as about impressing anyone. This is what I thought I had in the '70's, except it is for real.

Joined the Eons website community. Got my AARP invite 6 years ago. Guess it's time to admit it..........I love this life!! Don't HAVE to get drunk with the guys, I can just kick back with a beer and really enjoy it. Have my home paid for, my cars paid for, have some toys and freedom. Life is good and getting better!!

Welcome men!
I was going to call this group by a different name. I first thought of: AoM50 and then I remembered that show from the 80's, and thought: FiftySomethings. And then I thought about knocking off "That 70's Show"... Anyway, I landed on this one, as I think it says it best. Hope it works for everyone.
