I've only started 'showcasing' my art within the past few months.  I've never been serious enough (maybe brave enough?) to post my non-photographic artwork to the world.  So I thought I would dive…Continue

howdy men. I'm a self taught found object artist and blacksmith. Have had pretty good luck selling my stuff and am looking at taking this business full time soon.

Hello Gents,

I'm hoping you all are still active in this group.  I'm heavy into photography and web design, but am really trying to bring my other mediums to higher level.  I'd love some critiques - I'll start a discussion so I don't clog the wall.  Current mediums are hand-drawing/tablet and graphic arts.

You all have websites or work you care to show case?

I've never really had art folks to commune with, so I'm hoping this group can be a bit of a kick-start.   Thanks!

I suffered from a bit of a rut this past fall. My medium is fine art photography with film cameras, both 35mm and 120 format as well as printing in a darkroom.

The secret is trying something different, using photography as an example, if you are into landscapes and streetscapes, start shooting people and nudes. Put simple, get out of your comfort zone and you'll learn more.

I always like to sit down with other artists/designers and have beers and scream at each other about why Duchamp's a badass and Rouschenberg pioneered installation art out of a pure need to mess with people. That and using StumbleUpon on a weekly basis.

Good question Grant. Unfortunately I have the same problem. Inspirational blocks seem like they last forever. I guess the best way to get over the problem would be to experience something new. If we see something that we haven't seen before that might serve as new inspiration. In my free time I have just been experimenting with my materials to see what they can do.

How does one get out of "rut in art"
