Gents, I'll be up at camp in Amherst on Saturday for opening day.  For those heading to the woods - good luck.  If this deer season is anything like usual I'll do a bit of stalking, find a place to sit and scope things out and promptly fall asleep.  Hope you guys have more success than I do!

Bit cold, eh?  -17 in Orono this morning.  I don't even want to think what it was like for my father-in-law up in Shin Pond this morning.

Taking credit for community projects?

Brethren,Please give me your thoughts on this issue.I'm the outside events coordinator for my lodge. Yearly I chair charity fundraisers for local nonprofits.I'm also swimming in student loan debt and have recently learned of opportunities through Americorps that, if I were to claim and get signed time sheets for my hours on projects, would qualify me for student loan repayment (approximately $2400.00 for 700 service hours). We advertise our events on the news, radio and online, do mailings and…See More

Tamar Gendler: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Politics and Economics

Tamar Gendler, Department of Philosophy Chair at Yale University, Cognitive ScientistWho gets what and who says so? These two questions underlie and inform every social arrangement from the resolution of schoolyard squabbles to the meta-structure of human societies. They are also the basis of political philosophy. Professor Tamar Gendler uses the work of three titans of the discipline, Thomas Hobbes, John Rawls, and Robert Nozick, as a lens to guide us through the taut debate about the role of…See More
