I am trying to do some research on beginning leather working, primarily boots, belts, and wallets. Is there any direction someone can point me into? I have been wanting to do this for awhile now and it seems like the right time since I have so much free time on my hands.
you might could gleen some knowledge from a local supplier of leather and leather tools. is there a Tandy Leather Factory near you?
the wife of a coworker expressed interest in getting started in leather working, and they wanted my help. she's a nurse in a trauma center and has crazy hours. so i thought i'd share my knowledge thru a YouTube video (my knowledge on leather working is limited). ((these are in order))
now these are embarrassingly bad productions. and unfortunately the audio gets out of sync with the video. and i burned hours trying to fix that technical issue... i'm still clueless on that problem.
you could also hit up a bookstore or Amazon.com and find some books to get ya started.
Thanks a lot. I live in North Texas so I am sure it would not be hard to find someone who is an expert.
cool... yeah... that area has alot of pre-leather walking around, right? ;-)
I'm not sure if this helps, but someone asked if I could make a list of all the tools and stuff I use regularly to do what I do. I'm also a beginner and I make very simple things like wallets and belts.
This is a link to my tumblr site which has a photo of all the stuff I use and a listing of what it is if you're wanting to make a shopping list.
