Haven't actually read it.
Meanwhile, does anyone have a link to a transcription of the resignation letter/speech?
It looks pretty bad. As one commenter noted, English words are still in the text. Neither the headline nor the sub-head line make much sense at all. Looks like English text ran through Google translator which is really bad for Latin.
Authored by Christopher Hitchens. Interesting. I wish I could read it.
It would be hard because the Latin is practically unreadable unless you keep in mind that it is terribly rendered Latin by directly converting from English.. try putting it in Google translate.
Animi et corporis fluctuatio deinceps Benedictus XVI edidit consilium de papatu abdicandum fine Februarii. Abdicare se papa primus fere sex vocant centurias. MMX, sicut allegationibus pedophilic sacerdotes perseveraverint volu, Christopher Hitchens exprobetur individualis et institutional corruptionis intra ecclesiae moenia sacra. Suo originali articulus dicitur Editio infra.
That's the summary of the article at the top. Even the first sentence is all kinds of jacked up. fluctuatio is nominative but so is Benedictus. Which one is the subject? Certainly not both. It's trying to say that Benedict published his plan concerning the resignation of the pope. But there again in the classic de + ablative formula ("concerning..."), the object of de (abdicandum) is accusative not ablative. Pedophilic and institutional remain in English.
