Title says it all. The remake, coming out soon, stars of all people Bridges and Matt Damon in the lead roles.  Just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. The Cohen Brothers are responsible, so it…Continue

So what is your favorite John Wayne film?  Personally, I like Angel and the Badman the best.  Don't get me wrong, I have numerous favorites but I probably watch that one the most.  McClintock is a…Continue

In the heyday of the B movies (especially the 1930s), money was tight. Time was at a premium, because these things were filmed in weeks, not months or years. Sometimes, they were filmed in a few…Continue

Well, movies will perhaps be about as good as statues once were. Then he would be remembered.

Finally a group that recognizes a great "man" in all senses of the word. Sadly enough, I hate to think we will see no more like him.

I am glad there is some mention of him on his birthday -- here, here Bob. He was a great actor and will always be remembered in America, because the great American films are no strangers to him.

I'm posting this on Duke's birthday, and wrote a short tribute to him here.

I always liked the Duke's quotes. When we moved up here which we love it here. But I left everything I knew to move here ' The quote,"Courage is being scarred to death, but saddleing up anyway. Helped me a lot . It was scary at first. But we made it.

Duke played it two ways: First, he played himself, said he did not actually "act". Second, he played characters that had something of himself in them, or characters that he wanted to be. Not always, of course. But he did not play a psycho slasher or some character that you did not want your kids to see.

When you read about John Wayne's real life you realize he was just a man, but a man who tried to live his life with the values that his on screen persona displayed. He did so with a great deal of success. A great man and a great example even today.

"I can ask why you want to be able to do high reps of pull-ups? If your trying to build strength you might be better to try doing "L-sit" pull ups where you hold your legs horizontal and do pull ups that way. It makes them much harder! (Of…"
