Lads, just to follow on from that barber discussion, you've got to go to the Waldorf Barbershop on Westmoreland Street, its the oldest barbershop in Dublin. It's like stepping back in time in there;

I remember the missus mentioning that one. Excellent. Thanks Nick, the mane's due a trim and the hot towel shave is a bonus. I hear words of a brandy and cigar also. Sounds like a fun afternoon with the boys is all set. Will let you know how I get on. Cheers once again.

I went to Grafton Barbers in Dublin a few weeks ago. Best haircut I ever got. They do the shave and the whole works if you want it. It's very manly. You can even have a beer while waiting for your turn. http://www.graftonbarbers.com/

I'm new to the Art of Manliness community so hello to all. Glad to see a page for fellow Irishmen and our diaspora.

Can anyone help me find a decent manly barber where I can get a decent haircut and a close shave! Anywhere in either the Sligo or Maynooth area. Dublin is also acceptable. Want to experience the manly feel of an open razor to my neck.

From what I've read about dual citizenship it of course depends on the home country's laws. Here in America we are now forced to choose either American citizenship or foreign. My father had dual American/Japanese citizenship for years (army brat) but had to officially choose sometime in the early '90s. Ireland may recognize it but America (as a rule) does not. This is what I've been able to find with out doing actual legal research.

Hey All,

What's the craic?
Comment by StaggerLee on March 4, 2010 at 12:15pm
Thanks for the link, Brendan. I got exactly what I needed:

"If either of your parents was an Irish citizen at the time of your birth, then you are automatically an Irish citizen, irrespective of your place of birth.

So, if you were born outside Ireland to an Irish citizen who was himself or herself born in Ireland, then you are an Irish citizen. "
