A "Lewis" is a Son of a Freemason. It does not, functionally speaking, mean anything. In times past it meant that the kid got certain considerations that sons of nonmembers did not, at least from brother Masons.

I'm a MM in Sterlington louisiana. I've never heard of a Lewis but I'm going to bring it up at our next meeting and see if its something we recognize and if not then ill see if we can make a motion to

Any brothers, in long beach CA, or surrounding areas?

Brethren, In Texas we do not have a "Lewis" that I know of but I understand that in some jurisdictions any youth who is the son of a mason and is a DeMolay at age 18 can recieve the degrees but is not a Mason until he turns 21 until then he is a "Lewis".

A Lewis is a son of a Mason who becomes a Mason. In Mass we have a specific pocket jewel for a Lewis.

As you guessed, it must be a regional thing. I know we do things differently than almost every other state here in Pennsylvania, but I've never heard of someone being referred to as a "Lewis". What is it?

Ok, I have a question for the brethren here!  I'm a recently installed Junior Deacon, and my first night on the job we did 5 people for their 3rd degree!

In any event, one of them was a Lewis, and it got me thinking, because my (soon to be) 10 year old step son has voiced an interest in the Masons, so there's a few years to go still... But, my question is: Would my stepson be considered a Lewis?  I raised him basically since he was 7.

Just curious about it.  I know it might be regional.

Are there any Czech speaking Masons out there? I'm looking to improve my written and spoken Czech before a medical placement in the Czech Republic.

Same in FL. You have to do it if you want your burial apron.

Bigfoot, that is impressive. It was 11 months from initiation to my raising. And we still haven't started studying for the MM proficiency.
