titus, i thought he actually did really good in the man with the golden arm, though it being black and whit annoyed the crap out of me. :/

Alright, guys, we've been at it now for a while, how about we start some discussions on Sinatra's acting? Maybe we'll get more action in here-

I thought Guys and Dolls was fair. I really enjoyed Robbin and the 7 Hoods. I thought that was the best one of he did. Anchors Away with Gene Kelly is not as good but I still enjoyed watching the two of them on screen. But I will have to check out the Man With the Golden Arm.

I do not mean Sinatra could not act or that he never acted in a good movie. He never acted in a memorable one, because he did not pay enough attention. - In a sense, however, not paying much attention is par for the course for actors: they all make more bad movies than good... I've recently seen a couple of his comedies and war movies and such - underwhelming. They were not all bad movies; but I would not recommend any - or watch them again. But I do not know this golden arm movie, so I will look it up, maybe it is better...

titus it probably depends on the movie. i didn't enjoy the manchurian candidate much, but man with the golden arm i thought he did a great job in. as well as high society and guys and dolls.

It's probably not worth that much. Sinatra was not careful enough about his film roles. I don't know why.

"It's not that black and white; as there are guys who sit in cubicles who make what you said firemen make, and blue collar types with their own businesses who rake in six figures. "

"Thanks for all the replies, you helped me make up my mind. I ended up buying a peacoat instead, which is a lot more useful for me right now. As for the blazer, I decided that when I do get a jacket, I'll go for a grey or maybe navy one."

What Do We Learn From History?

I decided to put this question in the main forum, because if it was in a group like The History Buffs, there would be a smaller audience. Because everyone learns history at some point in his education, it is a matter that could be of interest to almost all members and not just a select few.So we all have learned some form of history in school, from local to national to the histories of far off lands and times. What is it that we learn from people of bygone places and times? There are some…See More
