Fountain Pens

“My two fingers on a typewriter have never connected with my brain. My hand on a pen does. A fountain pen, of course. Ball-point pens are only good for filling out forms on a plane.” -Graham Greene This group is for those who love fountain pens.

You can email Parker and ask them if there is a FP head for the specific pen, if so, yes you can swap them out.

Alright so I have a question: I have a parker IM rollerball pen, I want to get a fountain pen version but I've been wondering if it's possible to just replace the rollerball head with an IM fountain pen head without any concerns of leangth difference or anything. Any thoughts?

@Timothy: There is a swap meet group. You might post it there. Pics would be nice along with what you hope to get for it.

I have a nassau green Parker 51 double jeweled gold filled cap and considering selling it to buy a couple other pens I have my eye on. It is in great shape no damage and in working order. Anyone out there with interest let me know?

Tim, check out the restoration section of FPN.  It's been a while since I've restored pens, but I used ideas presented in that forum and it worked out great.

Gentlemen, over the last few months I have been plucking some gems out of antiques stores, but I also want to start doing some basic cosmetic restoring to them. Does anyone have ideas for bring that brand new shine back to vintage pens? I was thinking of carefully using my buffering attachment with my dremel tool? But don't know what kind of buffering paste to use? Any ideas would be great!

I never had a leak with it.  The nib is upright when in the pocket. I think that's the big selling point of it.  It is a 'clicking' retractable pen, but in the pocket the point is still upright.  It's a pretty cool idea.

Having said all that, there is no cap in the traditional sense.  Since it is retractable, there is a hole in the end just like in any other clicking pen where the nib comes out (unless they've changed it in the last few years).  In the pocket, it still shouldn't leak since the nib and hole are both upwards, but I guess if ink did leak from the nib it could make a mess when not in the pocket.

But, again, I never had a leak.  I suspect it probably isn't an issue.

The VP doesn't have a cap per se, it stores point upright. Drew, having actually owned one can give you better feedback on it than I can.

Thanks fellas, I think I'll pull the trigger and order one. One last question, I kinda wanted to use it with my pocket moleskine. Does the cap hold the ink in well. I'm afraid of it leaking all over ?
