I thought it would be a nice ice breaker to share with one another what our choice of daily carry is.

When I first began to investigate firearms for personal protection and concealment, I was overwhelmed with the multitude of options available.

Ultimately I decided on two different firearms: The Glock 27 .40 Cal and the Rugar LCP .380

See attachments for a picture of my daily carry. I encourage you to share pictures of yours too!

I carry the Glock in a Crossbreed holster. WONDERFUL IWB holster that is comfortable and easily concealed. Especially for a heavy set guy like myself. I highly recommend it.

The Ruger is on my person anytime I don't want to lug around the Glock. A great little pocket pistol that holds 6 rounds and 1 in the hole. Many people think .380 is a joke, but I'd rather have it than nothing at all.

Now...what do you guys use?

Here are some pictures of the Ruger and pocket holster I use:

When I still lived in Indiana, and could concealed carry (with a license to do so, naturally), I decided on a Walter PPK in a galco Royal Guard inside the pant holster.

Very comfortable either on the hip or small of the back.

380 is perfect for this use size/concealability. I used Federal hydrashock hollowpoints. Luckily I never had to test their effectiveness.

PPK 6+1

Royal Guard holster - obviously wrong specific model

Thats a nice piece. Do you still carry? Or do you now live in a state that disallows it?
I do not still carry. I moved to Chicago 10 years ago, and sold all my firearms - Chicago has very rough anti-gun laws, and I am a law abiding man.

Honestly, I have not really missed them - from a safety standpoint. I still carry a decent pocket knife with me. I do miss them a bit from a sporting standpoint, and as tools, I enjoyed cleaning, and working the mechanics. The PPK was a really well made firearm. A pleasure to own and use.

A big part of the reason why I carried before was because I was photographing, often late at night, alone in some pretty unsavory areas - for a few projects and assignments. So it was usually just me, $20,000 worth of camera equipment, and a bad neighborhood.

I'm not longer on those assignments, so I now usually am able to avoid putting myself in such a high-risk position.
Respecting the law is extremely important. Do they even allow CCW's there? Or just in a restricted manner
No. No handguns of any kind that I am aware of. Even long arms are problematic within city limits.
I'm sure the whole Al Capone thing put a damper on things in Chicago :)
Really the LAW says we have a right to keep and bear arms. The liberals claim we dont including the chosen one obama. The Supreme Court allready repealed the handgun ban of washington dc per the 2nd admendment. Someone needs to get the ball rolling in Chicago.
I certainly hope that happens. I like Chicago, but do not like their anti-gun stance.
I used to carry a Taurus Model 85 snub nose .38, but haven't carried in a while. I am licensed here in Virginia, and fortunately there are a lot of states that recognize my CCW. I am looking to get a small semi-automatic in the near future for CCW and while I like the Glock subcompacts, I'm not sure how such a small gun would act in my oh so large hands.
I have the same problem with big meat hooks. You should give the 27 a try sometime. It's a good gun, well made and very accurate. Anything bigger than that would be too difficult for me to comfortably carry concealed.
The 27 would be a great choice. I personally like Sig and in particular the P229R DA/SA in .40s&w. I like the .40, though I also like the .45acp and am waiting for someone to put a .45 in my hand the beats the 229. The 229 perfectly fits my hand, shoots like a dream and is a breeze to field strip and clean. My first handgun was a Glock 21 and if I switched back to Glock it would be either the full sized 21 or the subcompact 30, both good guns and both .45acp.
