Welcome to ALL THINGS CHTHONIC

ALL THINGS CHTHONIC is a group for anyone interested in the morbid and the macabre.

I welcome thoughtful, informative, or fun posts on books, movies, poetry, short stories, photography, music, or art that deals with anything that is chthonic, morbid, gothic, macabre, uncanny, and horrific—that which unhinges the mind, curdles your blood, and chills the very marrow of your bones.

This looks low budget, but not terribly executed.

I saw House of Wax. It is creepy but predictable and the best part is when Paris gets killed. I wont tell you how, lol.

Insidious won't bowl you over, but it's not the worst I've ever seen either. It's very contrived though.

I saw House of Wax at the library the other day, but it has Paris Hilton in it, so I didn't pick it up. Has anyone ever seen it?

DG, I agree with your review of Audition.

I read so many people loved it, calling it "stylish". That is the new slang for boring.

I have not seen Insidious.

Last week I watched the Japanese film Audition. Don't bother. It was slow, boring, and a big disappointment.

Also watched Insidious, but it was basically a remake of Poltergeist, and not nearly as well done. It was just so-so.

I don't think I've ever seen that one -- though I kind of like Terrence Stamp, normally.

I saw the original with Terrence Stamp, where he keeps this hot redhead in some dungeon. Very slow with a weak plot.
