Christian Men

Regardless of the specifics, we can all agree on one thing. Jesus Christ was the perfect Man who died and rose again for us such that we could have fellowship with Him

ROFLMAO @ Paul

Liam, how does your argument stop short of total abandonment of the Bible? You can do it gradually, & not explicitly, & can keep the portions you find agreeable as you discard the disagreeable--but what makes that Christianity or religion? What are the aspects of Christianity that matter? Marriage & children are the core of society, after all--they presumably matter. There is nothing Christian in blessing homosexuality, is there?

Ultimately though, I wonder if Bishop Lee's point is that there are some aspects of christianity more important than the legalism. *shrug* Not for me to decide, obviously.

I discount the OT because I'll guess that we are all wearing clothing of mixed fabrics, eat shellfish, don't keep kosher - etc. The same set of rules where the homosexuality prohibition is spelled out.
If you want to keep the OT in, your definition of marriage will need to expand extraordinarily.
And as for Paul - as I said, we already pick and choose what parts of his writings we apply. Why is this one different?
I'll wait for Ken.

Slow down guys lets not rush things here. We need to wait and hear what Ken has to say on the subject since he is the all knowing Biblical authority before we decide if Bishop Lee's position is Biblical or not.

I agree with EJR.  Bishop Lee has taken a position that is against what God said, in His Word.

Certainly if we discount the Old Testament, and the Epistles, and the parts of the Gospels in which Jesus defines marriage, that is, everything that could bear on the issue, we will be left only with things that don't bear on the issue; that's logically necessary.  But Christians are not generally in the business of evaluating the Bible to decide what to keep.  It's in the business of evaluating us.

This may need its own thread, if it's to be discussed further.

"Last Days".

Snicker.

Might deserve it's own discussion, but 1. Check your original translations, Jesus doesn't say anything, the OT's legalism is irrelevant on this unless you are obeying everything (new covenant and all) and 2. Paul also says a lot of things about how women should be silent, should we base our society and laws off of all of Paul's writings or does it make sense to evaluate the value of each aspect?

Bishop Lee and the Episcopalian Church are stellar examples of men who place their own opinions and proclivities over what the Bible clearly states regarding sodomites and effeminates... Just another apostate group of ravening wolves and ministers of unrighteousness pushing their doctrines of devils and man-made cultural traditions... just as the Bible predicted would happen in these Last Days... * yawn *
