Consensus is that the Authorized translation of the first part of this verse, "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly," is off. Way off. So what were the translators thinking when they wrote this?
Transcription is the process of copying a text. So you can't transcribe something from one language to another. The Book of Proverbs might draw on Egyptian and Akkadian wisdom sayings, but the book cannot be a transcription of them. There had to be a translation process, at least. So yes, I meant "composed" and not "transcribed."

Also I'm pretty sure Esther was written in Hebrew originally. I'd be interested to read any compelling arguments to the contrary.
