I was wondering how my other Christen brothers handle masterbation? Most churchs do not have a prob . with it. some do. Some men think it is unmanly to give into your body, that you are not in control. Just wanted some opinions.

Though this may sound sarcastic, but it really isn't.
According to a minister's sermon I heard years ago:"Adultery, your cheating on your spouse. Masterbation, you're cheating on yourself"

The bible doesn't mention anywhere that masturbastion is a sin; however why do men tend to masturbate? they masturbate to fulfill themselves sexually. It also cannot be done without lusting or fantasizing which is a sin. The problem with Masturbation is that is an act that is entirely focused on self. Real men are first of all God focused. If you are married, then your body belongs to your wife and only she has the right to fulfill it sexually.
If you are single then I don't believe that you are able to do this without undressing someone in your mind. Masturbation many times comes out of looking at pornography (which I won't get into that discussion right now). Because of the sexual frustration that is stirred up by pornography you need a release. Stop the flow of porn material and the need to masturbate usually fades as well (I have experienced this personally and seen this to be true in many other men).
I really appreciate an honest question like this. I am going to go ahead and tell you my standard for this seems really high, but I have a very fulfilling and amazing marriage that is both porn and masturbation free. I am happier as a result. Ultimately, I believe that masturbation only lowers you as a man.

Though you come across as reasonable, please be aware that your position is severely weakened by absolute and unsubstantiated statements such as this.

Permalink Reply by Chuck Knight on January 7, 2013 at 12:27am Why do I consider it unsubstantiated? Because it is. Here's a link to an article explaining how ejaculation works:
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2835/how-does-ejaculation-...
Ejaculation is a physical reaction to a physical stimulus, for the purposes of this discussion, masturbation. Now, don't get me wrong, most men do fantasize while doing it...but, from a physiological standpoint, it is purely physical, and is apparently a spinal reflex.
By your own logic, stated above, the mechanical action of masturbation is not a sin, but the lustful thoughts are...and then you went on to link the two, irrevocably.
As I said earlier, absolute and otherwise unsubstantiated statements such as those serve only to weaken your position in an otherwise reasonable post.
That's why.
Permalink Reply by AdamR on January 7, 2013 at 10:28am lol no I don't mean why do you think it is unsubstantiated. I understand why you think that. And granted it is a statement that is generalized. So My question more is if you are able to masturbate without fantasizing and lusting, why and how would you do it?
My personal opinion is that a man has night emissions for a reason. You don't even have to be dreaming for it to happen. I won't argue that maybe someone somewhere will try to figure out how to do this and do it without "Sinning".
I do however think it is a degrading act to men and is selfish by nature, but I will leave it at that.
Permalink Reply by Nathan DeParis on January 7, 2013 at 4:02pm I agree, it is always ends up being selfish even when there are no lustful thoughts.
