Do we go to Heaven or Hell right after we die or do our souls stay on Earth until the second coming of Christ?

When you die you are no longer subject to the physical dimension of time. That is a principal that many have a very difficult time grasping. As a disembodied spirit/soul you are no longer governed by the physics of time.
God is not simply a being with lots of time on his hands, he exists outside of time.
We will, at the time of death be in the presence of Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16), but it will seem be happen at almost the same time to the ones who are still alive when the rapture of the believers prior to the great tribulation and the second coming of Jesus Christ to establish his millennial kingdom.

You go to Heaven or Hell after you die. After the Second Coming of Christ, Christians will be reunited with their bodies and will inhabit a New Earth.

It is my understanding that when we die we arrive at the gates of heaven and face st peter who determines weither or not we are worthy to pass on through.
