Justin Lee, good guy. Believe it or not, I was the gay conservative voice over at GCN, all Hell broke lose because of it.

I'm supposed to speak differently around gay friends and acquaintances?

I thought the basic rule was to (if a divisive subject came up), was to respectfully listen to the other person and not try to overzealously "convert" them to yur point of view or personal beliefs.  Trust me on this one.  If you live in the SF Bay Area, 'Niners/Raiders or Giants/Dodgers can be as big and divisive an issue among friends as "same sex marriage"!

I don't think I need anything more than civility and respect, but I'll agree its a question worth noting.

I sometimes read things about how to talk to someone who has a handicapped child.  I know it's different, but there is something to be said for thinking ahead about such things. Tangent, but my general take on "How to talk to a parent of a handicapped child" is that the author's too sensitive:  the friend needs to recognize that every child is a gift, and the parent needs to recognize that well-intentioned remarks are well-intentioned, even if they're sick of hearing them.

I don't think I need anything more than civility and respect.

This!

I don't expect anybody to change who they are just to placate me and I'm not to tolerant of those PC expectations being thrust upon me. The real issue is when civility and respect are denied me for whatever reason or when there is some sense of entitlement that the other somehow deserves more than this from me.

Good video. Not what I thought it was going to be. Liked his shirt.

For me, it really does come down to just loving people. I know thats a totally cliche thing to say, but its our second greatest command so I think its a safe way to go. I can appreciate anyone's request to not use a term that they may find offensive around them...sure I have my rights, but love lays down its rights for another, so if the guy doesn't appreciate the term "homosexual", then the loving thing to do would be to not intentionally offend. As far as the other points though, like Jesus said "Love thy neighbor as thyself". If I am obeying this commandment, TRUELY obeying this commandment...I'm not going to be telling the guy being gay is the same as murder or telling him he needs to control himself, I'm just going to be loving on him and treating him like he was any other one of God's children and let God be the one to convict and judge.

Interesting video.  I do not like the term, "gay" but I will make a conscious effort to use it when I'm talking to people who are gay.

The gentleman in the video says he is a Christian.  That's good enough for me.

One problem I have is with people who believe that they are not sinners if they don't engage in a particular act.   We're not sinners because we sin.  We sin because we are sinners.  Who among us has been totally devoted to God, 100% of their life?  Who among us has never sassed their parents?  Who among us has kept the Sabbath, 100% perfectly? We're all guilty of many different kinds of sins.  I know I'd be screwed, if I didn't have  Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior!

It only takes the commission of one sin to stain a person's record.  The only thing that can clean the stain off, is the Blood of Jesus.  Therefore, even if engaging in sexual acts with a person of one's own gender is NOT a sin, one is still guilty of breaking at least one or more of the "Top Ten" Commandments, and needs Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.   People need to stop debating what is and what is not a sin, because we've all already done a lot of different things that ARE sin.
