By the way, I used to be an ardent republican. Now I appreciate the sight of a good suit, Tweed and a wax jacket.

Ah, but the Star isn't technically a newspaper. But I do agree, the media have indulged themselves with the shocking news of 'its cold in winter'.

Your right that apathy reigns. I remember the media hysteria over Diana's death, and particularly the comments about the entire nation being in mourning. A million people signed the books of condolence. That's not the entire nation, that's 2% of the nation.

But you're right; the media likes to get hysterical about things, that's what gets them sales or ratings. Whether it's royals or even just the weather.

Why have "It's Been Snowing, Children Have Fun" as your headline, when you can go with:

Well the security costs were just a side issue. I'm not really bothered about it and think that the media is just trying to create more hype surrounding it to sell papers.

I know not everyone shares my view about the Royals but I also think that the views of a significant proportion of people who are at best apathetic about the monarchy seem to get ignored.

Philosophically I'm opposed to the concept of monarchy, but find it hard not to respect the Queen's work ethic and dedication. I don't think the position should exist, but given that it does, I think she does an excellent job of it.

I doubt I'll watch much of the coverage. I understand the cost of the wedding itself will be paid for by the two families, with the public forking out for security. Still, I imagine if Malia Ann Obama were getting married, their security would be be paid for out of the American public purse, so that's not really a royal vs. republican issue, is it?

What do you guys think about the Royal Wedding? Personally, I'm a republican and I think we'd be better off without the Royals (not to mention the cost of the wedding itself).

It's terrible. India have much to be ashamed of I'm afraid. Photographs in the Daily Telegraph show children working on the building site. India a superpower? I think not.

I say, it's deathly quiet around here. What does everyone think of the fiasco that is India's hosting of the Commonwealth Games? It seems that the facilities are falling apart, and they haven't been used yet.

Start to early investments - 401k, Roth IRA, Mutual Fund

Hey guys,I have a few questions on investing and hopefully you can answer them. I am starting my first job and have just recently graduated from college. I am debt free, own a car (reliable) and making a salary of $65,000.Besides fully contributing into my companies 401k (7%) and getting it matched I would like to start a Roth IRA and possibly invest some into a mutual fund. I plan to basically use the mutual fund as my "emergency money" and let it sit only unless I need to get the money for…See More
