Comment by Jason M Gaines on April 16, 2013 at 6:51am Just want to welcome you guys to the group. Have any of you been knapping lately?
I haven't knapped this week but did scrounge around the farm yesterday and found some flint pieces...no full points though.
Comment by Jason M Gaines on March 26, 2013 at 1:34pm Spring is here but the weather isn't cooperating too well here in Kentucky...been snowing and 30 degrees. I'm ready for the weather to warm up for knapping events to kick into full swing and get some knapping going.

Comment by Jason M Gaines on December 6, 2012 at 8:40am It seems like cuts are something us knappers have in common...all too common. :)
Comment by Jeff "Jeffro" Kylberg on December 5, 2012 at 10:20pm Jason, That was last night. I will have to start taking some pics because I usually don't. All I got last night was a cut from a flake on the ring finger of my left hand but no stitches necessary.
Comment by Jason M Gaines on December 5, 2012 at 10:37am Thanks Jeff. You still knapping tonight as well? Post up some pics if you get a chance.
Comment by Jeff "Jeffro" Kylberg on December 5, 2012 at 10:18am Good luck buddy. Now is the time to thin the base, don't end snap that piece.
Comment by Jason M Gaines on December 5, 2012 at 9:49am Headed to the knapping pit tonight for some work on the piece shown below. The stone is hornstone and will most likely end up being an Adena point.
Comment by Jason M Gaines on December 4, 2012 at 4:08pm I like both of those stones; good color and texture. They make nice points. I have hornstone and a little sonora I'm currently working...the sonora is a nice dark, smooth black.
