So who goes to the barber to get their head shaved? I LOVE getting a hot towel head and face shave. I feel so refreshed after.

I started receding in my teens. I was freaked. Even wore a rug for a time. Now I just get what little is left buzzed off. I too like a hot towel beard shave. Feels like a facial.
Comment by Robecru on October 24, 2012 at 5:30pm Just shaved my head 2 weeks ago. Feels better and I think I look younger. My hair was thinning and the line kept going further back. Always swore if I was going to go bald I was not going to the get the grandpa look. Both of them were bald up top with hair on the sides. Unfortunately it still grows in those areas and have to shave it everyday...or every other day. Hope to learn from you pros.
Those hair removal gels say not to use it on your scalp. I have wanted to do the same thing, since I will never have a full head of hair there anyhow, but I've been too cautious to attempt to use them on my head. Those warnings may just be there to avoid lawsuits, or there could be good reason, as your skin IS DIFFERENT on different parts of your body, like the soles of your feet, under your eyes, on your elbows. You can't treat all skin the same way, so using gel on your legs (if you were so inclined) is not the same thing as using gel on your scalp.
Comment by Ian Wilson on October 5, 2012 at 2:20pm plucking and waxing, as i understand, over time damages the follicle so eventually no more hair. and there are laser treatments... though i wonder if those technicians will avoid the scalp area.
Comment by AdamR on October 5, 2012 at 1:35pm Is there a way besides nair to just permanently remove what remains up top? I don't mind shaving, I would just assume not have to if there is a way to just get it over with.
Comment by Bearwolf on February 12, 2012 at 7:13pm Dave, I get mine to shine by scrubbing it good after I shave, then rinse with cold water, followed by Witch Hazel. After it dries I put on Aloe Vera gel and that gets me a real good shine going.
Comment by Bearwolf on February 12, 2012 at 7:12pm I too have a horseshoe if I don't shave it. I started shaving my head about 7 years ago when I first started to go thin on the top. About a year ago I decided to let it grow out. That's when I found out that I don't have much, if any on the top.
What's the trick to having a shiny bald head? I've been shaving mine for years, but it doesn't seem to have the shine like I've seen on others.
My head gets pretty cold without something on it. Luckily I have a great hooded jacket I just love. But my scalp sure does get dry when I shave it in the winter!
