The Barber

So who goes to the barber to get their head shaved? I LOVE getting a hot towel head and face shave. I feel so refreshed after.

When, where, and how?

Shaving head with a Safety Razor

Started by Amos Phoenix. Last reply by Kev Aug 27, 2015. 3 Replies

I have recently started using a safety razor to shave with both on my face as well as my head.  I find it much easier to shave my head with it than I expected and get a very nice close shave.  Is…Continue

Well, I have decided to shave my head.  My wild hairline and thin patch in the front has become unmanageable!  Shaving my head has been something I have wanted to do for a while now.  I buzzed it…Continue

Thanks Earl. Maybe.

Congratulations, Rich.  A buzz is a good first step.  I would encourage you, once you get used to the buzz, to take the rest off with shaving cream and a razor blade.  I think that you'll like it.

After 50 years of once long hair, trimmed hair and then comb over, I finally took the plunge and got buzzed. Love it. No fuss no muss just shower and go. Thank goodness I have a head shape that looks good, so I'm told.

Congratulations on your decision, Russell.  I hope that you are enjoying your new look, and the process of producing it.  I have been shaving my head consistently for almost two years.  Hair is SO over-rated!

I was thinking about going to a barber to get my head shaved for the summer, but I found a better idea.  A friend has been shaving heads as part of a charity fundraiser, so I let him shave mine.  I've been shaving it a couple of times a week, and I'm liking the look.

I know what you mean Earl. When I started shaving my head 16+ years ago there weren't that many guys with shaved or even buzzed heads, esp. white guys. Now it's fairly common. It's a bitch when one looses their uniqueness, but dammit we're still special. :-)

I went to the beach this weekend, and a lot of men, especially over the age of 40, had buzzed or shaved heads.  It would be boring if everyone looked like this, but I'm comfortable with the number of guys who are shaving it all off.  I don't think I'd be the only person to shave my head, but it seems to be pretty popular, especially in the summer.

I use the Headblade myself, altho I prefer the older model.  The new one is a bit high-tech and complicated to use, especially when changing the blade.  It does give a close, comfortable shave, tho.  Welcome, Jason.  You posted a photo in a different group, and your bald head looks really good!

The Headblade does have a learning curve and I prefer it for my top and against the grain shaving in the back. I have one of the originals that don't have the wheels on it. Seems to do better than the ones with them. It doesn't do a great job on the sides though. Never could get it to shave well against the grain there.

I've been shaving for about 20 years now. My hair started thinning in my late teens. My wife gives me a hard time if I go too many days without shaving. The longer my hair grows the more balding I look. I'd much more prefer to be bald than balding.

How to Friendzone like a Gentleman?

Looking for some advice, or similar experiences from others here.  Sorry for the cheesy content.Just a little background, some of my friends are trying to set me and another friend of mine up. She's a very nice girl and I enjoy hanging out with her, but I just don't feel attracted to her in a romantic way.  At first I didn't do much about it, thinking that they would eventually get the point that I wasn't interested (I really didn't think that she had any feelings either).  Now it's to the…See More
