I don't know much about medium format; never even held one. Digital is a somewhat recent thing for me. 35mm film is what I learned on and did for years.  and digital for me is the format that is…Continue

If you submit a digital scan to the same standards set for other digital images, why does it matter how it was captured?

Comment by Ian Wilson on October 30, 2012 at 9:15am

Liam, it is all just to save money.  there is far less expense in handling all the digital submissions than if there were analog submissions.

For the first time since they started hosting it in 1969, the Nikon Photo Contest International (NPCI) - now renamed just NPC, is not accepting scans of film photographs. Only digital entries (including digital MF and digital LF).

This is a bit annoying, and troubling - but also funny that their lead judge is a photographer who mostly shoots BW film with a medium format camera. He wouldn't be able to enter the contest he is judging.

WTF.

Hey sorry for the long wait, I just recently moved to China. I'd say I mainly want to do landscapes. Travel type photography and the like.

Ken, what style of photography are you going for? fine art, sport, portraits, journalism, etc.

I'm going to try and become a better photographer. I have a nikon c3300, just a point and shoot. Any tips for becoming better?
