AOM Buddhism

Buddhism is fascinating as a spiritual practice and as collection of rather sophisticated philosophies. There is something very manly about its emphasis on mental discipline and self awareness. I'll be posting discussions and links, enjoy!

Check out "Buddha's Brain". It explains how meditation and buddhism is a probable system for increasing happiness and satisfaction through psychology and neuroscience. I am a little ways into it and really enjoying it.

hows that working out for you Steve? I started studying it as well and tried it several times before I regretably stopped doing it... I plan on getting back to it soon

Hey Netza, good call. Here's a scene from the Korean film "Spring Summer Fall Winter... and Spring." I was looking for something suitably manly and Buddhist. Of course, any other pictures are welcome. Btw, this is a great movie.

Recently it´s been a lot of latin american history, since colonial times to the present, but generally I´ve been interested in everything, since ancient greece(especially ancient greek philosophy and politics) japanese history, and I´ve also had a great deal of interest in the French Revolution, mostly documentaries, but I´d like to read some books as well. I read a book a on religious history about a year or two ago when that was more of my thing... now a days mostly anything to do with revolution, philosphy and enlightening really grasps my attention

I really like anything that happened before 1850 in the western world and in the East and Africa, I find it all interesting. I have done a lot of writing and research on the Byzantine Empire and religious history. I really want to learn more about adventure (Marco Polo and Ibn Batuta), Indian History, Eastern European, Japanese, and Early Russian. I have always liked Roman Empire history and Ancient Greece and other ancient civilizations. How about you?>

yeah, nothing like viewing things with the least amount prejudice in order to see more clearly. I saw in another discussion that your a history major, that´s really cool, i´ve been catching up on a lot of history myself, most recently on mexican history, but also in general... what history do you dig the most?
