Anyone else interested in aquaculture?  I've been considering trying to grow some select algaes, like spirulina, for food.

Does anyone grow bonsai?

I've been growing lemon thyme, Greek oregano, dill, and rosemary for weeks, but I got some pots on Freecycle, so I bought some Italian parsley, chives, French lavender, and some boxwood basil today (below):

Also bought a jubilee tomato plant:

And bought another Opuntia vestita again, since I lost mine last year:

And an Opuntia microdasys (bunny ears cactus). The one I got is yellow, but I prefer the white:

And last week I bought a Mammillaria pilcayensis:

And a green wheel sempervivium:

And some Coral Reef Chinese sedum:

I planted mine this past weekend. I'm hoping for better luck during my second year. I planted some flowers to hopefully attract pollinators; last year I lost most of my squash due to poor pollination.

I am starting plants today indoors.  If I start them too early they will be that much bigger by the time they make it outside.

Not big on fancy gardening such as flowers etc but can't get enough of the productive veg patch which I am getting more to be a twelve month producer

When is the best time to start plants indoors? I am in Utah.

Does anyone have a good way of keeping bermuda grass out of a garden besides having raised beds?

Does anyone here do square foot gardening? I started one in the spring and it did very well. My neighbors were impressed and asked how long I had been gardening; this was my first real attempt. I am now preparing my fall garden and I am hoping for similar success.

Currently studying a land based course at uni and have my own allotment. Very enjoyable and fulfilling, if anyone needs any help for any reason I'd be glad to help!

Raising a Child Without Religion, or Faith

Every two or three blocks on the avenues of downtown Brooklyn, a big old stone church rises from the ranks of the brownstones. A couple of weeks ago, my little boy Felix pulled his trike to the curb and squinted at the steeple of one."What's that castle, Da-da?""It's not a castle, it's a church.""What's a church?""It's a place where people go to worship god.""What's god?""God is a concept some people believe in. A creative force, I guess you'd say.""Huh."And with that, he rode on. I must admit,…See More
