I only wear cowboy boots. No, I'm not trying to be a hipster, I was wearing them before it became cool too. I wear them because my feet are flat and the heel forces an arch in my foot, so I wear them for the comfort. And the style. Shining them has been something I have done over the years, but it certainly has fallen by the wayside over the last couple. I found the task of shining them very meditative and calming this week. My favorite pair are 30 years old, and were my fathers. I may have to face the fact that they may be beyond repair. I've taken them to a cobbler and he suggested that i retire them. But they are the most comfortable and meaningful item of clothing that I own. The question I asked myself yesterday was "Am I just trying to put a glossy surface on something that will soon die? Or am I getting the full reward out of a truly great pair of boots that have seen great events all around the world?" I like to think it is the latter.

I just started a few days ago. It feels great to finally take back your life. Finding a mentor is proving to be harder than I thought. It's tough as most "men" today don't lend to being the greatest roll models. I'm sure one will present itself when needed

I got 4 pairs of dress shoes done today. The most important step for me was taking a damp rag and wiping down the shoes first. I was amazed at the dust and dirt in all the crack and crevises that came out. I think if I had just polished it woulnd't have come out so nice.

I also threw out 4 old white dress t-shirts I pulled them out of the wash and realized the collars were really worn out. So out the went and I bought some new Haines and I feel like a new guy. Sometimes even the simple things make a difference!

Ah never mind - I see it is no longer free as advertised. It is now $2.50. No matter - I found it and have it downloaded. Thanks.

Hello everybody! I'm new to the web site, but I've had a great time browsing around already and reading past posts. I hoping one of you can point me in the right direction - I can't find the link to the ebook 30 days to a Better Man. Was it supposed to be in one of the confirmation emails? I just re-read them and didn't see it and for the life of me I can't find the link on the main page.

Anyway- thanks!

September 1 Started my first day. My five core values:
Faith, Family, Integrity, Justice, Service.
Mantus: I believe manliness could definitely be a core value. I'm just starting today with the book. Good luck.

Is manliness a core value? For me manliness stands for many things like confidence, courage, dedication, self-esteem and many others. It could be ultimate core value. I bought Manliness book yesterday so it's important.

Mentors are essential in my opinion. Unfortunately, I think finding a mentor is very difficult today. Jeremy, I'd look into joining organizations where people congregate to do community service or help others. A good non-kooky church can be an invaluable resource for finding mentors. Find someone you respect and ask them to mentor you. I've found that there are older men who want to mentor someone and are just waiting to be asked.
