I apologise if this topic has been done before. If so, can someone please direct me to the previous discussion?

I saw an ad recently that was endeavoring to persuade me that some deodorant would have the same affect towards ladies as a man in uniform.
Strange pitch I know, but it got me wondering; why is it that some women are indeed attracted to guys in uniform?
I am not wodnering why are some attracted to it and why are some ladies not attracted to guys in uniform, rather why are they attracted to men in uniform at all?

I am in the New Zealand Army Reserves (which is a far cry from American defense) but with a population of 4 million you'll understand. Thus, when you are seen in uniform people do stare as it is a rare thing.
On our soldiers day though (ANZAC day) I found that the ladies appeared to want to be with the uniform more that the guys, as though they were thinking 'I want to hang with a soldier tonight' rather than any particular one.
So if soldiers are just one of a series to some, why is it attractive?

Furthermore, which uniforms do you think women find the most attractive?
(not just sexually but emotionally)

And what is it about being in uniform that they enjoy? It seems almost an instinctive reaction in that they at least turn their heads, why is this so?

A man in uniform is a man with status.

Depends on the uniform.

You're asking a question about women's tastes on a site for men? Might as well go on a woman's site and ask why men like boobs.

While agreeing with -- and laughing over -- Nick's post, I still think we can give some answer.  A man in uniform is someone who takes significant physical risks.  That is, he's brave.  Bravery is an attractive quality.  What's more, it's bravery with a point -- doing something good for others at risk to the self.  And if he'll risk his life for society, he'll risk for her, as well.  What's not to like?

So customs officers and airport security emanate braveness too?
But I guess I pitched this wrong.
What is it that triggers attraction from the uniform, is it a cultural construction of reverence or a personal ambition of providence? What elements do you think are in action behind aesthetics.

Postmen, milkmen, security guards? Maybe its a job thing. They're thinking that hey, this guy has a job so he has at least some money that he can spend on me.

Probably more of a "Dear Penthouse Forum" thing in those cases.

I agree with Will.

As to what uniform women (probably) find best looking, look no further than the United States Army's 3rd Infantry Regiment. Otherwise known as the guards of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.

Because it imparts an air of order, authority, accomplishment, masculinity, strength and stability.

That, and also they look handsome in them.

Marine Dress Blues. Nothing else compares.

As has been noted, you might have better luck asking a site with more women on it.  Still, here are a few possibilities.

1.  Many military uniforms enhance a man's appearance, emphasizing traits like the breadth of the shoulders while also providing panache.

2.  Military men usually have to maintain standards of physical fitness above the average.  Military forces also skew young.

3.  A military uniform shows membership in a group that is esteemed by many, and that often is associated with manliness.

In short, I think that military uniforms and those who wear them hit various points of attraction, both cultural and primal, for many women.

AoM site FAQ or customization tips

Anyone out there know of articles on how to use this site most efficiently? I don't see any sort of FAQ or tutorials. As an example, I noticed that there are a few guys on here that are very good at keeping up with many conversations, and I'd love to here your tricks.  It seems to be tricky to keep up on what's read and what's unread, for example.  I didn't see an option to customize the color or weight of visited links, nor does there appear to be an unread 'orb' - anything really. Are you guys…See More

5 fascinating reasons cockroaches will outlive us all

Ah, cockroaches. The scummy, skittering, pesky little pests that somehow manage to vanish whenever you flick on the bathroom light. Like Mother Nature's little Batmans. Part of what makes them so hard to control is their resiliency, which is something of a biological marvel. Here are five reasons the humble roach will outlive us all:1. They can adapt at a scary-fast rateIn the mid-1980s, exterminators began mixing sugary roach-bait with slow-acting poisons intended to spread and wipe out entire…See More
