What's the most miles you ever had on your car?
I was meeting with some clients when the topic of "buying new cars" came up. They were quick to inform me that they were totally against it and bragged about how long each of them had been driving their cars. Then the wife proceeded to tell me that she had almost 400,000 miles on her Pontiac Aztek.
400,000! I couldn't believe it. I don't think I've ever even crossed 150,000.
I was so impressed with her story, that I wrote a blog post about it:

Anyway, has anyone here ever got close to that? Curious to see.

I had an 87 over Volvo 740 sold it with over 450,000 klm on it roughly 280,000 miles. Still going strong when it went...awsome car..also had an acura 1.6 (?) with over 350,000 klms on it and it's still on the road!!

My first Truck I had was a 2001 ford Ranger Flareside. it went 130K and was still ready for more until I got my 2006 F-150. My dad had a ford Aerostar that went above 230K without needing to repair the engine or transmission.

'74 toyota pickup. 657 K on the original with not even a rebuild or head gasket change and head decking. Just keep your oil changed and your timing belt change intervals to date. I was the 6th guy to own it.

I was lucky enough to own a US rust-free '87 Toyota Corolla. When it started, it ran on 3 cylinders - lots of smoke and sputtering. Once the 4th cylinder warmed up, the rpms would increase, smoke dissipates but sound as though it was spooling up to take off...then the choke would kick in knocking the engine down to a very mild purr. Then it drove beautifully. Everyone who witnessed this laughed at it. Bought it for $500...drove it for 6 years...sold it for $600 to a guy who was importing it to the middle east. He said they'd chose that car over a Mercedes due to parts and longevity. More than 327,000 miles on it.

I got up to 198K miles on my 1998 Ford Explorer then got scared of being stranded in the middle of nowhere. It was a good SUV but had to cut it loose. ***sniff and a tear***

I currently drive a '97 right now and it has just over 210K. I can't believe how much I like this vehicle. It's still is a strong runner for a 15-year-old SUV. One common complement people make when they hop in is how comfortable the seats are. This is what replaced the Toyota Corolla (see above).

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 223,000 miles on it. It's had the transmission replaced, but otherwise has not given me any problems. It has the most comfortable seats of any car that I have driven. On the list of many skills, learning how to maintain your own vehicle should be up near the top.

237k on a 1988 Volvo 740 Turbo and climbing. Garage kept since new, perfect interior and reasonably ok paint. Best $600 I ever spent :> Original owner blew a coolant hose overheating it and warped the head. A little machining and head gasket later, all was well. Red blocks are f'n indestructible.
My first car was a 1980 Monza (reskinned Vega) with the 2.5L Iron Duke. When I sold the car it had 181k on it. Those cars weren't known for breaking 100k.
400k is unbelievable on an Aztek. They had the awful 3.4L that was famous for eating head gaskets and cracking rings. My mother had that cursed engine in her Impala, and even with her granny-driving and OCD maintenance in rural areas for its entire life it was drinking oil and having random power losses at highway speed (and no trouble code set) at 98k.

My first truck was an 84 s-10 that had 482k on it when the odometer broke about 2 yrs before I bought it. I rode it for 7 yrs and it is still running around here since I sold it

I have a 1990 Nissan 300zx NA with 257,000+ on the ODO. She is my daily driver, 75 total miles a day to work and back and has never left me stranded...Don't ask me how much i spend on gas though...
