What to do with 100$
Hello Everybody,
After a recent visit to my father, he decided to gift me one hundred dollars, on the stipulation that I spend it on a gift for myself. Now I am rather simplistic, so there is nothing in mind I had lined up, so I am wondering if my fellow AoM members know of anything in particular.
Important information:
1. I am 23 and have one month of college left, then I must enter the real world.
2. I have a straight razor (b/c someone will post that answer)
3. My fiancee manages a rather meticulous budgeting system which has already paid for all of the parties, plays, movies, dinners, and concerts we/I want to attend for the next 6 mos. (she is amazing, but she may be a financial robot. I have no problem with that).
4. I do not want any more books or music atm, my reading list is massive.
5. I like things to be simple and functional/useful.
6. I want it to be manly and last indefinitely.

I'd say a new wallet, a watch, or a flask. A knife is a good idea, I suppose.
I'd lean on flask right at this moment, if you drink.

i have a swiss army flash light thats 50's army supplus they acctualy saw enough use to get dinged up but still work. It works amazingly well and looks awesome.

Are you a cigar? If so, you could purchase yourself a quality humidor. $100.00 would take most of the expenses off of you, and a quality humidor will last forever. I'll never get rid of my first.
A knife and flask are also great ideas. Not a bad idea in the bunch.

A few ideas-
A quality pocket knife will serve you for years. Personally, I love my Kershaw folder.
A decent leather bag or briefcase (depending on what your line of work will be).
An older steel-framed bicycle you can convert into single-speed and enjoy riding around.

Odd, but I just discovered $100 I had stashed away some time ago. Once in awhile, I squirrel away for a rainy day. May be rather lame, but I used it to add much needed shelving in the garage. Now I won't need to walk around camping/hunting gear to get to my reloading bench.

My problem in these situations is that the stuff I really want is almost always more expensive than the size of the gift. I mean, $100 is nice, but it can also be limiting.
So I let gifts accrue, until I can afford *with gift money* the item I wanted. After all, it's supposed to be used for gifts, right?
For example, a lot of friends kept giving me small gift cards to Home Depot, none of which would buy what I wanted, so I added them together. Took me a year, but I bought a vertical compressor.
Looking at it that way, $100 is about 1/3 of the way to a decent (or 1/4 of the way to a really nice) pistol.

Go to a real steak house and and get the most expensive aged steak on the menu and a couple glasses of top-shelf bourbon or scotch.
