What should the modern gentleman wear to bed (for his wife)?
My wife and I got married this past April. Now that we are living together I'm noticing a trend. She puts on cute, sexy, nice things to sleep in every night. I put on an old t-shirt and take my pants off. Done. This can't be a fair exchange and I don't want to look like a slob when I go to bed.
Do you guys have any suggestions for the proper gentleman's attire for bed time?

I have often wondered this myself. One thing I have realized up to now is that she is much less concerned with what I am wearing. The bigger issue for her is that I am shaved, my teeth are brushed and I don't smell like I have been sitting in an office all day. One thing I have noticed that she does enjoy it when I wear a nice pair of boxers with an easy access doorway.

He should wear something purple, a silk scarf, and a tool purse. Oh, and guyliner. I read, once, that the ladies LOOOVE guyliner.

His problem, not ours. He got pissed just because Jack inquired whether he had asked his wife what she thought (the obvious first step, but one a surprising number of men would skip). Clearly he has problems deeper than nocturnal sartorial uncertainty.

I don't know if you ever ended up getting too many real answers, but I'll throw my two cents in...
Don't go by the first picture you see as the company has several styles but:
I like their boxers because they aren't super baggy but more modeled after board shorters. Slim without trying to hard. Trendy.
I have no idea if you're wife would like these, but for me, I keep myself looking good physically (read that as not huge, but cut and fit) and then I wear a pair of those boxers in a bright nice color. Works every time.
Just don't try too hard. I'd work on being fit for my woman long before I considered what I wore in the sack, as long as it wasn't something odd or crazy.
