What is the best way to carry a cell phone?
I'm an early 30's guy who has to carry a blackberry for work. For some reason I can't let myself wear my phone with a belt clip. I just can't get past thinking it looks lame. So, I default to wearing it in my pocket which I hate equally as much. I've seen shoulder holsters, but I don't think you could wear that without looking like a tool.
Are there any other options? I carry a backpack, but that's not really an option when I'm working around the office. I need to have it near to hand if it rings. Cargo pants are not an option.

No easy solution here. If you can wear a suit you can use the inside breast pocket (the one James Bond keeps that metal cigarette case in). Otherwise, until someone creates something new I think bulge in the pants pocket is the best you got.
No holsters please. That's lame. They're for plainclothes police carrying guns I think and that's about it. And please, nothing on the belt! I think the only two kinds of people who can get away with stuff clipped on their belts are law enforcement and batman.
Also, you need a blackberry for work? And you carry a backpack? Those don't go together in my head. Either you can get away with something thinner like a regular mobile phone (or even a thin iphone) or if you are the type who needs the blackberry (business-type) then maybe its time to dump the kid's schoolbag and get a proper briefcase. Even cargo pants with a belt clip would actually look more professional than a backpack in my opinion.

Why can only law enforcement and batman have things on their belts. Does that mean that I should not have my firearm holster, spare magazine holster and knife on my belt? I am neither a LEO or Batman.

When I was a Paramedic you could always tell who the noobs in EMS were. The amount of gear worn on the belt is inversely proportional to the amount of experience.

Pretty much true everything. My surfing buddies labeled groms who bring a whole bunch of unnecessary shit surfing with them "accessory fags".

I don't know. A lot of people in my division, including myself, had a multitool on our belt. I also had a 9/16-1/2 combo wrench on my belt. This is due to the need to have quick access and not have it stolen. If it's in the rack then someone may be sleeping on it and if it's in the engine room it's likely to be stolen by another division.

If we were on a scene where there were first responders/volunteer firefighters I'd always try to borrow a penlight/stethoscope/scissors/etc from them. I appreciated having their help and it made them feel more useful.
