I'm a 16 year old female, and i am super curious what young guys look for in a girl? I've heard most guys want happy girls, girls with long hair ect. What are some traits y'all look for in girls before considering them? Is it important shecan cook? Or do you want her to have a job? Do most guys like femenine or masculine girls?
Oh, and how do you know if a guy likes you? I'm kinda confused on that...my older brother says its their comments, and the way they treat you...what do y'all say?
Thanks! :)

Hi Chrissie,

You may find this Cliche, but a guy is looking for a girl to be herself. Yes its ok to look pretty, but don't change who you are to catch a guy.

As far as cooking, its not a bad trait to learn. Its not a deal breaker, because that is a skill that can be learned. A job isn't a bad thing to have. While you are single, you should be able to live independently.

As far being a feminine or masculine girl, it is my opinion that women should primarily be feminine.

As far as how do you know if a guy likes you? My opinion is that if a guy likes you, it is his job to talk to you. Don't ever get so desperate that you go looking for guys. Let the guy pursue you. Any guy worth having is going to be man enough to talk to you about it.

Hold your horse there Adam,

I agree with that if a guy likes a girl, he should be able to stand up for it and show it. Don't ever get so desperate that you go looking for guys. That has nothing to do with what you say before that, and I think that it's rather outdated.

Especially if a girl knows she really likes the guy, it's her job to let him know. That's not desperate at all, that's taking matters in your own hands. What I read from you is that a girl should sit around until a boy makes a pass, and she is 'desperate' if she does otherwise. I can't disagree with you more. The way she does it is a whole other matter. If you simply 'throw your body' into the equation, that's rather promiscuous. Use your eyes, your actions and your words. If all else fails ('cause lets be honest, guys are as thick as a rock when it comes to 'subtle hints') simply tell him you want to go on a date. In that case he can still take you on a date (devised by him) and feel 'like a man' if that sort of thing is important for him or you.

What guys look for in a girl is simple: A match. That definitely doesn't mean you have to be the same, but there has to be some kind of coherence in how you both think about how your life should be, and then there's the chemistry of course. There is no telling in what 'guys' like, but the only way YOU will be happy is if that one special guy likes you when you are most at ease.

If you or he have to work (hard) to do 'special' things or change (large) things in your behavior, go look for someone else.

In general I might agree with you, but not for a 16 year old. Of course that is my opinion.

Yes I think a girl could show her interest, but I think old fashioned has worked a whole lot better for people than the new way of doing things as far as dating goes.

You may of course disagree with me, but I believe the guy is primarily responsible because he is the leader of the relationship and perhaps in life as well.

Thanks Adam, agree with you totally!

This guy hit they nail on the head
Thanks, i really liked your last statement! Something i need to remember...haha!!

What do young guys look for in a girl?  Boobs and a pulse.  What do men look for?  You might as well ask a group of people what their favorite flower is.  What do I look for?  Depends on the night.

Cooking is important for everyone.  If you can't cook, you deserve to starve.  What's more important is, how well can you take criticism?  If I say the meat loaf is dry, are you going to passive aggressively burn my steak?

Feminine or masculine girls?  You'll have to define that a little better.  Girly girls are cool.  Tomboys are cool.  However, if you're too into your nails and clothes, you'll be deemed high maintenance.  If you have too many softball injuries, you'll be thought of as a les.  As the tight rope acrobat, Buddhist says, "balance".

How do you know if a guy likes you?  At 16 it's not that hard to see.
