Are video games manly? Why or why not? What type of video games are manly?

There is no point in them.

No.

They are a completely passive, over consuming escapism that has been shown to have a very deleterious effect on social skills, real life interactions and in more extreme cases skew to the negative ones' world view.

If they are used for what they are, the occasional entertainment on a lazy day when you can't leave the house, they're okay. Not great, but okay. The problem is that they are highly addictive and tend consume massive amounts of time and productivity.

How do you feel about novels?

Depends on the novel.

As a rule however, they are not as passive, addictive or consuming the way video games are, and require considerably more mental flexing.

Exceptions occur, of course. 50 shades of gray, the Twilight series, a few others are pure and utter crap.

I fail to see how is a book less passive than a video game.

Maybe you've never read a book. Books require thinking that's not done for you; the thinking that's done for you in books is just there to move you along--because let's be honest, people like you might not get books; books include no mechanical skills to distract you or replace thinking, unless you want to include page turning. Games are mostly solving puzzles; books are about insight. Puzzles are a stepping stone...

Gibberish.

Add this to what you confessed you fail to see & you may come alive to the suggestion that maybe you should play more games & read fewer books, if any.

I play very few games - I read quite a bit. I did not confess anything, I disagreed with you. I find your golden age thinking to be gibberish.

I fail to see how is a book less passive than a video game.

That's a confession of failure; unsolicited. Your mind is no better than that. That's fine, but it is what it is.

By your standards apparently. Thankfully, you opinion is not truth for all.

So now  you fail to recognize the definition of active/passive for your own limited little view
