I thought this might be a fun end of the year discussion. I'm sure some arguments will come from this, but let's keep it fun!
My Top 5 Albums of 2012
1) "Boys and Girls" by Alabama Shakes
2) "Blunderbuss" by Jack White
3) "Signs and Signifiers" by JD McPherson
4) "Some Nights" by Fun.
5) "Slipstream" by Bonnie Raitt

Great album! Great artist!
Putting it at #3 was tough, but I think "Blunderbuss" and "Boys and Girls" edged it.
Permalink Reply by Jess Levens on December 21, 2012 at 10:52am I think this was a slow year for music, but here are mine. Not sure about the order.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor: Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
Fiona Apple: The Idler Wheel ...
Jack White: Blunderbuss
Jason Aldean: Night Train
The Man with the Iron Fists Soundtrack
I've recently had it suggested to me to listen to Fiona Apple. Haven't listened to her since her debut.
Permalink Reply by Jess Levens on December 21, 2012 at 11:22am She is surprisingly good. Not too "girly." Her cover of Across the Universe is one of my favorite songs.
Permalink Reply by Erik A. on December 21, 2012 at 1:11pm Okay, it took a while and I had to go a little obscure but here it goes:
The Gaslight Anthem-Handwritten
JD McPherson-Signs & Signifiers
Dave Tucker- In Kind
David Byrne & St. Vincent-Love this Giant
Lee Rocker-Night Train to Memphis
These are in no particular order.
Permalink Reply by Bryan Howland on December 21, 2012 at 1:19pm Some great albums already mentioned. I'd add:
Lucero - Women and Work
Japandroids - Celebration Rock
Nick Waterhouse - Time's All Gone
I tried to get into Nick Waterhouse. Hasn't caught my ear yet.
I'll give him a second go around.
