The gig line
During my military days, one of the things our uniforms were judged on was our "gig line". That is the line formed by the shirt, belt buckle, and the fly of one's pants. Maybe it's me, but I'm conditioned to see misalignment of these things as sloppy. However, I rarely see it mentioned in discussions of mens' clothing as something to look out for.
So, my question is this: How many of you gentlemen take pains to make sure your gig line is aligned? Or is it just some of us military guys?

Oh definitely. The Navy conditioned me to pay very close attention to it and in that of others. It just looks better having everything lined up. If I iron nothing else, I have to make sure to get all the bacon out.

We military guys are diferent bunch. You would agree that most men dress sloppy. Gig Line I pay atention to, however what is up with mandles and socks. Drives me nuts, but it seems to only bother me.

I pay attention to my gig line AND the laces, left over right. Figure after 14 years active and 12 reserve it comes second nature.

I'm not military, but it is something that I have usually paid attention to. I'm a very visual person, that misalignment drives me nuts.

I pay attention to it, and can "sense" if something's out of place without looking.

I have no military experience, but I am a tad bit obsessive-compulsive. Because of this, I need to ensure most things are in line. This includes the positioning of my watch on my wrist, my knife clipped in my pocket, the slip-joint in my back pocket, and my cell phone in my left front pocket. If anything is lying on its side, crooked, or not firmly in place, then I adjust.

I never heard a specific term for this ("gig line"), possibly because it's always been so obvious that the placket, belt buckle, and fly needed to line up, or you looked the fool.
(Obvious exception for John Wayne in Red River.)
