What skills are you working on right now, if any? What skills would you like to have, if you could make your own list and have those skills at expert level? Time and energy are always being demanded by the necessities of life. But, if you had more free time, what particular skill, or let's say top skills, would you like to train and develop?

This can be from any sphere of life. Physical, mental, linguistic, mechanic, etc.

You know, like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills.

Interesting topic, Chu Kim. Thanks for posting the questions.

What skills are you working on right now, if any?

  • Training to make and recognize consonants in Sanskrit which do not occur in English, in preparation for learning the Devanagari alphabet, in preparation for learning to read and speak Sanskrit.
  • Training in mental math (that is, doing arithmetic in my head) and practicing Vedic math algorithms so that I know them better off the top of my head. This activity is good for building up working memory, which in turn is useful for learning faster. It's also good for a lot of everyday activities, like calculating tips and change in your head (which I can already sort of do), or keeping a running total of your purchases while you shop, which in turn can help make you more conscious of spending habits.
  • Building up a repertoire of body-weight exercises. I would like to work some of Matt Furey's bodyweight exercises into my routine.
  • Developing more consistency in my meditation practice. Also, working my way systematically up into more advanced techniques, like lucid dreaming exercises.
  • Trying to put into practice mnemonic techniques I already know, but do not have the habit of using except marginally. I'm currently reading Harry Lorraine on the subject, because he's got more practical advice than most authors do. I don't even have all my friends' telephone numbers and all my account numbers memorized yet (blush). That's because I haven't memorized a complete default word translation list yet. I'd also like to apply mnemonic techniques to other practical skills. For example, being able to memorize the names and functions of farm equipment, which is actually practical to one of my lines of business. In general, the ability to quickly and permanently learn lists of information is useful in everyday situations.

But, if you had more free time, what particular skill, or let's say top skills, would you like to train and develop?

If I had more free time, I would probably invest some of it to martial arts training and survival training.

Preparing for the future.

I'm a competition quick draw shooter, so I'm always working on that.

I'm learning Spanish for an upcoming career opportunity.

I'm getting ready to run my first half marathon in the spring.

I'm learning more about horses every day, getting my Morgan saddle ready.

I'm learning how to meditate, and keep myself mindful of my own emotions and motives.

I'm also learning to play the harmonica, and how to perform various cracks with a bullwhip.

If I could max out my skill sets, I could be a country fried Jedi.

Appropriate Interview Suit?

I just graduated from college and will begin the "look for a real job" process soon. I have this suitits very slim, and the pants are low rise and really tight. It is a perfect fit on my slim frame, but I was wondering if it is appropriate for interviews. My mom thinks its a little too trendy or unprofessional looking for the middle-aged men and women executives…See More
