Personal care products not where you would expect to find them!
I am by no means a real macho man, but neither am I a daisy! My wife and I were doing some Christmas shopping today. She wanted to go in to the chain store called Bath and Body works. I was a little reluctant, but entered with her anyways. Being the designated bag carrier, I followed begrudgingly behind as the bag was filled with sundry ladies gifts. After sometime I wandered off on my own. To my surprise I found a section for men! There were only about a half a dozen fragrances for me to choose from but it was more than enough, and I walked away with a few items in the bag for me as well! They carried lotion, cologne and body wash for men, but my prize find was a tube of shaving creme. I had been wanting to try some after reading of it here but the only place i could find it was online. The brand they carry is C O Bigelow-it is from Italy. I bought a small tube just to see if I like it-and I do-it was only $5. A tube 4 times the size was only double the price. I learned today that sometimes if I remove my blinders I can find things that are hidden in plain sight! I hope others can learn fro this experience and draw from it as well!

yea I've bought stuff there for my girlfriend and bought a cologne there (oak) for myself.
It's not bad. Reasonable price. I think stores like that are catering somewhat towards men now as well (basically someone in marketing realized they were missing out on 50% of the population as potential customers)

I found this hidden gem too, and it's great! I like the C.O. Bigelow body wash. I have moved on to shaving soaps, but the tube of shaving cream is a good deal. I just don't care too much for the eucalyptus in the cream. If you've been using the goo that comes in a can, you will be happily surprised when you use the cream!

I discovered the same thing this past sunday. How are you liking the Bigelow creme so far? I have that wal-mart shave soap and would love to know how it compares.

I liked that soap better than C.O. Bigelow. I'm currently using a soap by Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood soap, and it is great, I would highly recommend anything by them! Do you DE shave?

Taylor of Old Bond Street is great...I haven't tried their sandalwood but I like their lavender shave soap.

Sandalwood is a great scent, and the soap feels almost powdery on your face, its the only soap I've tried by them. I'll definitely be trying their other scents, lime is on my list for summer.

I'm still currently using a multiple cartridge razor with a wet shave setup, this is just until I find a DE razor for myself through.

I've discovered the Bigelow shaving cream, too...if you look closely you'll see it's made by Proraso, a pretty big and reliable name. The eucalyptus took a little getting used to, yes, but I like it. I mostly use the stuff in the summer, because the eucalyptus and whatever else is in it is soothing and refreshing in the warmer weather (since I get razor burn insanely easily). As for the other items in the line, I haven't tried the colognes, but the shower gels aren't too bad.
Another place I've found good men's products is Crabtree & Evelyn (because my wife drags me in there so she can get hand creams). They have 4 or 5 different lines; I prefer the West Indian Lime and the Sandalwood bar soaps. They can get a little pricey, but the quality is great. Now I've found the men's section in L'Occitane, too but haven't tried anything yet.
The take-away: snoop around for the men's section in the women's stores you get dragged into and never use wal-mart (or CVS/Rite-Aid/Kmart) soap again.

Even Victoria's Secret sells men's cologne.
The women's stuff at Bath & Body Works is mostly overpriced and too scented for my tastes. My sisters like it, though.

This doesn't surprize me at all. I've found stuff (soaps, lotion, colognes in there over the years. The thing that drives me nigh unto distractction is the refusal of nearly any retailer to stock "Men's Furnishings", collar stays & exteneders, cufflinks, tie bars or tie tacks, or even handkerchiefs...if it isn't the Christmas shopping season, good luck finding any of those things other than at the "high end priced outlets"
