Men, i am considering a move from NC to Texas. I have questions as google is really not a lot of help.

I do not know what area of Texas to look into but maybe you could tell me.

Where: Within three hours of Arlington Texas

What: Hills not a city town like Dallas Texas colleges close by so I can finish my undergrad

Good place to raise kids and have employment

Price: Easy for a newly married couple to sustain living

and have options to be a home

I looked at Austin, too pricy

Arlington is too much hustle and bustle but it does offer colleges and extended family is there (Which is why I want to be in driving distance)

Please help this Carolina man look into becoming a Texan. Thank you.

I can't watch videos but hopefully that is a clip from the movie Bernie with the old man describing the 5 parts of Texas.

One of my favorite parts of the movie ,other than the scene with my friends Grant James and Julie Erickson as the couple casket shopping with Bernie.

If you are wanting to move to Texas why are you limiting your search to 3 hours from Arlington? Texas has a lot to offer different parts can be fairly different. Do you have family or friends there or are you a huge Dallas Cowboy fan or is it something else.

Yes, I have a aunt and 7 cousins in Arlington.

I'll look up some of these places. Thank you all for the input.

I think if I were looking for a non-bustling part of TX, near D/FW, I might check out Glen Rose.  But then I love to go search for dino-footprints.  Looks like there's also a wildlife center, a reservoir or three (don't know anything about these), and it's far enough from D/FW it shouldn't be choked up for a long time.

I would look at the hill country.

San Antonio and surrounding is where I would suggest.  Lots of options, farther from Arlington though. We have a ranch just outside of San Antonio and I love going there as often as we can.

I'm curious as to why you want to be within 3 hours from Arlington though.

Edit: I see your answer to Arlington.  SA puts you a little over 4 hours out or so.  Nice back country drive to and from.

Within 3 hours of Arlington?  Hilly?  Look at Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Joshua or Argyle.

I live in Arlington.  Those four meet most of your requirements.

From the Grammarphobia blog.Q: In a recent radio appearance, you said the idea that “he” can refer to any human being – man or woman – was introduced in the 18th century by a female grammarian. I think you’re wrong. The concept of male as universal has been around much longer.A: If by “male as universal,” you mean using male pronouns (“he,” “him,” and “his”) for women as well as men, the idea did indeed begin in the 18th century. Before then – for two centuries, in fact – it was considered…See More

The death of neck ties?

I heard that according to researches that the neck tie is expected to become obsolete in the next few decades. Because more and more men are dressing more casually these days thanks to Facebook and google where the CEO shows up in jeans and a hoodie. So is the neck tie really becoming obsolete or are men just not caring about his personal appearance? Please feel free to give your taken on this.See More
