This post is inspired by the above article.

I am very fitness oriented and try to be intensely active for at least an hour per day, 5 days a week.

I just wanted to start a thread that could potentially turn into a place for us men to share or brag about a particularly challenging exercise, race, or hike that you did.

At a minimum, I would like this to be a reminder to some people to get off the couch and do something hard. Our bodies are designed to do incredible things.

My wife and I recently completed a team relay race.

It was over 200 miles long and took place over a 36 hours period.  Each member of our team essentially ran a 5k (anywhere from 2.7 miles to 4.2 miles) every 3 hours for 36 hours, with a 30 pound ruck sack on our back.

In total we ran about 30-35 miles each over the duration of this race. It rained for the middle 28 hours. It was both a physical and mental challenge and I ended up sleeping for about 14 hours after the race.

We also raised over $140,000 for a our veterans.

Sounds brutal.

Brutal, fun, challenging, and rewarding.

I find when people put out super-challenging stuff like this it overwhelms them, they despair and stay on the couch.

Maybe a thread on daily walks? :)

It doesn't have to be super challenging.

It can be a walk. Do something.

Have pets and children. There won't be any room on the couch for you, lol.

Nice! That sounds brutal. 4,000 feet elevation gain is no joke.

Last Thursday I did a 2,000 meter test on an erg machine in 6:51.7, making me the fastest rower on my team by .1 second. Couldn't walk for a few minutes afterwards but it was worth it.

Thats no joke!

I have a love / hate relationship with ergs, or what I like to call them "Puke Machines".

I am currently completing a June running challenge, which is you need to run at least a mile every day, which doesn't sound that tough at the onset, but its a pretty big pain in the ass, especially when free time is at a premium during the work week.

However, I have been able to squeeze in a couple miles before my group training sessions this week to keep up with it. Its also been good to keep me on my feet, especially with a half marathon coming up next Sunday.

Really inspirational. Thanks for sharing with use. lol
