Manscaping - Shaving Below the Neck
What's your take on men shaving/trimming their backs, chests, legs, and least we forget, the bean bag and pole among other places?
Personally, I believe it's hygienic and perfectly natural as excessive hair came about through evolution for a reason 10,000 years ago for factors that not longer exist in most mens' lives. Also, it's better for those intimate moments when a partner doesn't want hair in their mouth.
I'm not for shaving EVERYWHERE smooth. It gives men an effeminate look when their arms and legs are baby bottom smooth. Trimming is perfectly acceptable as no man want to in class or out and about only to have people being turned off by a second shirt and pants made of hair!

Well I must agree to a point. I will not shave my pits or legs thats just not for me at all And never even considered my arms. If one day I start sporting back hair or start growing a sweater I will address it at the time. I am not a hairy guy so I am lucky there. I think you are asking more for the whole shaving the southern regions. No problem I did it for many years for the same reason. But while talking to my wife about it unless you go at it VERY soon after you shave it is quite un comfortable for them. Try to trim short, that way it is not irritating for her and you are not un-hygienic.

I just don't understand some men's almost phobia about body hair. Men have body hair, women have boobs. They go with the gender. I think maybe trimming may be OK, but I'm just not sure about shaving chests and backs.

Sometimes when a man shaves below the neck, he makes himself look ridiculous. My wife and I saw a man, at a nudist resort, several years ago, who had an unusually large amount of body hair. He had shaved his pubic area smooth, however. It looked like he was saying to everyone, "HEY, EVERYBODY! LOOK AT MY PENIS!"

Agreed. After taming my nether regions I had to trim up the hairy legs or else I'd look as ridiculous as a half-shaven nudist.

In a way, I think is kind of a shame that there is so much anxiety over something that probably would have been laughable to my father's generation. While growing up, to my knowledge anyway, I never heard any guy talk about shaving his body hair--just his face. However, there is alot more technology available today and a whole lot picture taking going on today than ever. Let's face it--body hair is not photogenic--at least an excess of it isn't, and I think this is where this modern phenomenon has come from. As I see it, a man should decide for himself on matters of personal appearance such as this, and of course, his partner deserves some say, too. I myself am a rather furry animal, and I look at this as just another thing to do, another thing to worry about. However, if getting rid of or trimming body hair adds to a man's self-esteem and makes him feel better about himself, then why not? The time invested is then worthwhile.
