I get that you don't like it. You've still been pretty vague. What specifically do you find unmanly about it? Is it just that anything you don't like is inherently unmanly?
Strikes me as a weird line-in-the-sand. Braveheart would be on almost any "manly movies" list. I just don't get your assessment that there is "no chance" it should be included.

I have in mind many movies that are great action movies but, upon reflection, felt they were too over the top to be genuine reflections of manliness; too unrealistic. For my top five, then, I'd go with The Great Escape, The Cowboys, The Thirteenth Warrior, The Devils Brigade, and Sabrina, my controversial entry.

I Know there was a blanket statement for the Duke, but i would like to point out 3 that I personally think qualify as man's man movies.
1: The Sands of Iwo Jima (Sgt. Stryker is an Icon. What a lot of men strive to be as a military man.)
2: The Searchers (Ethan Edwards is a hard man who finds redemption.)
3: The Quiet Man (Sean Thornton Is a man who struggles with his past and how he fits into the world. Finding balance between who he was and who he wants to be.)
Just 3 that stood out to me.

"Shackleton" was great. I'd never heard of him. Now I've read a few books and my admiration for the guy only increases. He had his flaws, but man. To get into such a disaster and get all his guys out alive--amazing.

Just finished the last Band of Brothers episode last night. Pretty manly, but everything's manly about WWII (even the women).
Otherwise there's Delicatessen, which is manly in a completely different way. Some might think that's a stretch, but I have my reasons.
