Hello everyone,

I recently received a bed which doesn't have a headboard, having only a little experience with wood working but an active interest I figured I'd build a headboard for it. I went looking on the net and was having a really hard time finding any worthwile sites centered around woodworking and no information on building a headboard. I am sure the basic design isn't hard to figure out and accomplish but I am wondering if anyone else has built one or something similar, and if they have any suggestions or pointers.

If anyone knows of any good woodworking sites or any recommendations as to where I can learn more, please let me know.

Thanks.

Look up doing a head board that mounts to the wall.

AOM has a woodworking subgroup, you can try there, and if you have any more questions, that's the place to go.

There are thousands of woodworking websites out there. Keep looking, and perhaps you'll find something. In the meantime, there's a few articles from one website.

Thanks alot, you found exactly what I was looking for. I guess I might have been putting in the wrong key words when searching google.

EDIT:

A sheet of 1/4" plywood about 2' 6" tall the width of the bed, it doesn't matter what grade. Two 1"x4" the same width as the plywood, two 1"x2" 2' in length. a sheet of 1/2" foam the 6" smaller than dimensions of the plywood, and a piece of fabric with dimensions 8" longer in both directdions as the plywood.

Paint the 1"x4" in a color that matches the other furniture in the room. Lay the foam on the plywood centered 3" from all sides and glue into place using hot glue or staple. Wrap the fabric over this and staple into place (I would hotglue and staple). Nail the 1"x4" at the edges of the plywood on the fabric side (basically making a frame). Hang this on the wall with the bottom level with the mattress. Viola, a headboard.
Alternate design, instead of plywood use bead board and paint a contrasting color or stain both the frame and the bead board to your liking.
