UPDATE:
My name is Bruce Wise. On the forums, I'm "thehuhman". (a nickname given to me by my co-workers, because I had a terrible habit of always answering a question with "huh")

In my late fifties, I'm one of the older AoM Forum participants. I'm self-employed, and live in eastern North Carolina with my wife, Marie. Together, we have five college-age kids. And that in itself presents a daily challenge. Being surrounded with kids aged 19 to 28, plus their various friends and significant others; I feel uniquely qualified to be a member of the AoM Forum. I may be old, but I totally get what's going on in the twenty-something age group. And I'm passionate about helping young guys to find their way into adulthood. I may not always have THE answer, but there isn't much I haven't seen (or done)... and I'm here to listen (if nothing else).

I have 94 AoM friends, and I belong to 18 AoM Groups. (14 of which I created and manage.) I'm very active in the Community. In fact with over 1800 points, I am well on my way to the "2000 points" mark on the "Leaderboard". (That will be an AoM first!).

Beyond the AoM stuff, I'm a husband, dad, step-dad, friend, designer, photographer, blogger, and mentor. I love my life, and I'm truly grateful for every day. You can learn more about me on "">"My Page", or at my website.

I always thought your name was the thehuman. Haha. No use in welcoming you, you've been here forever :D. Congrats on passing the 1000 point mark. I'm getting close to 100!

And don't forget how you're stalking me in this community, too. ;)

Funny. I figured your real name was "Hugh" or something like that. Hugh-man, get it?

Note to self: Add stalking to my attributes list. LOL. Thanks, Jamie. (oh, and you can call me Hugh... LOL)

You sound like a rock-solid guy, Bruce...and you always contribute, which is cool, too!

I envy you for NC, considering you have ocean and mountains within a couple hours reach. I gotta make it to the Appalachian Trail someday soon, but have a brand-new baby boy (see pics).

Make sure you update your profile pic with one of you in your new shirt (I'm jealous)!

Thanks Jeff, for the kind words, and also on your comments about NC. It is a great place, I must admit. The only problem is finding enough time to enjoy it all. My next goal is to go white water rafting up near Asheville, in the NC mountains. Always wanted to do it... never got around to it. (I posted a couple videos about that, earlier.)

I really appreciate your prolific contributions to the site. It's good to have a gray beard to give the younger guys some perspective. And I'm so glad to finally understand your nickname!

Thanks Kate!
Interesting to note: once I learned I was one of (if not THE) oldest participants, I almost pulled out... thinking I should get out of the way, so to speak. But, thanks to the urging from some of the younger guys, I decided to stick around. I'm glad I did. It's been a rewarding expereince, and I've made some new friends in the process!

You're right Bruce

This is a community of men, so we younger blokes need the wisdom that comes from older gents like you. Thanks for staying on
