Hi All,

I'll start with an explanation. I have a job I truly enjoy, however It requires me to work the weekend, overnight (D) shift. As such all of my friends and family are asleep while I am awake. So i pose this question to the hopefully like minded. What are some good, night time hobbies. Please feel free to shout out even the most unusual, strange, and bizzare ideas you can think of. Even if they dont work for me, the ideas could be entertaining. Please keep in mind I live in an urban area and dont really want to wake the neighbors. They are nice but older people and have been good to me over the last 5 years. Thank you and let the ideas flow!

You're reckless.....you're reckless and that makes you dangerous...

Cat Juggling...I think I've seen it all now.

Astronomy, if you can go outside.

Night-vision archery.  Weightlifting.  Martial arts or boxing.  There's always the college-student fallback ... booze and video games.

Homebrewing

Ham Radio

Fly Tying

Late night gyms

Knitting

Maybe writing? Bring along a laptop and just let your muse do its thing.

I'm searching for a evening hobby myself. I usually have a few drinks in the evening and am trying to replace that habit with something more productive. Fly tying is a great idea which I have done for years, although, really, how many flies do you need? I'm researching building wooden model airplanes and sailing ships, although the price seems a bit high. Cat juggling is out, for obvious reasons. That leaves night-vision archery and booze--a dubious combination but worth a try...

What "obvious reasons"? None come to mind.

I'm colorblind.

How about mobile porn? Do you have an iPhone?

Writing is a good night time hobby.  If you're artistically inclined, painting or drawing.  I find I'm more creative at night than in the day.

The Barbershop

It's just seems natural that Art of Manliness should have a barbershop group.  My intent of this group is to gather and share general thoughts and experiences concerning barbershops. Anything from a good barbershop that you have found  to pictures and stories of shops you have visited to discussing anything barbershop.  See More

Chuck Knight replied to Steve's discussion Hair styles for men with fine hair
"Fine hair simply means that each hair is thin.  We need more information.   It looks, in your photo, like your hair is combed down and forward...and it has some decent volume already.  It's just too long and too heavy.…"

"Yet, the human brain is certainly capable of investigating the existence of God and giving a fair consideration to all of the pertinent data available .. especially the evaluation of the testimony of those who claim to have seen him, heard him and…"

Jack Bauer replied to Matthew L Weiss's discussion Umbrellas ok?
"My former sister-in-law used to live in Seattle.  She said she used to think it rained all the time there.  She later said she'd never even seen rain until she moved to Houston.  If you're not drenched from head-to-toe…"

Nathanael replied to Matthew L Weiss's discussion Umbrellas ok?
"As I noted, this is a regional difference.  However, as someone who moved from the NW to the east coast, there are reasons umbrellas are used out here.  1.  While it doesn't rain as much, such rain as there is is often…"

Brian W. Barrett replied to Herb Munson's discussion The Primacy and Existence of God in the group The Great Debate
"Fault with your argument: "The true and living God" That has to be accepted to continue the discussion. Not everyone accepts that there is a god, the same god, a true god, or a living god. The bible does not prove the existence of God, it…"

David replied to Matthew L Weiss's discussion Umbrellas ok?
"Umbrellas for golfing or coming to the aid or assistance of a lady in a rain storm are perfectly acceptable and encouraged.  Any other use is simply not acceptable in the Seattle area.  That's what gore-tex was invented for.  And…"

Matthew Williams replied to Hyrum Higgins's discussion Advice on whether to stop talking to a girl
