There is always something annoyingly impersonal and disconnected about writing an introduction.

I have to say I much prefer the simple joy of getting to know people in a more natural manner.

However since that isn't what an introduction page on a forum is for I shall cease my belly-aching and get down to it.

I am Rick Thompson, twenty six and loosing the battle to grey hair. Granted the silver hair at my temples aids in looking distinguished, at least that's what I'd like to think.

Currently residing in the Isle of Man. For those that don't know, the Isle of man is a tiny Island between England and Ireland. Though small (30 odd miles long and about 8 wide), we are home to the worlds most dangerous motorbike road race in the world, the Manx TT.

Happily married man, so she tells me, with two wonderfully loud children.

If there is anything in particular you feel you need to know don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome to the site Rick, I do believe you are the first person on here from the Isle of Man. Im curious:do you claim Irish or English nationality or something completely different? Enjoy your stay here.

Thanks Ryan.

I claim Irish nationality by birth

But the people born here are Manx by nationality.
Although they did have to change to using British passports since many customs officials refused to believe there was an island here at all.

Welcome, Rick!  Great 'getting to know you' through your introduction and agree it is better to introduce and get to know people in a more natural way but the internet has created a need to do it more un-natural.  Anyway, welcome to AoM and looking forward to really getting to know you better.

Glad to meet you Mark

Welcome, Rick.  My grandfather with originally from the Isle of Man.

In that case I'm sure you've heard many stories about living on a tiny Island then.

Not that it's a bad thing of course

Do you know Mark Cavendish the Manx Missile?

Not personally no.  Although a fair few friends do.
